57: "Meat for the Meat Grinder"

My heavy eyelids opened slowly, but as soon as they were opened, weariness hit me again and I let my eyes shut once more. They would've stayed closed, too, but I had an extreme ache in both of my shoulders. And I could hear a loud whirring sound.

My head snapped up and looked at my arms. My wrists were in a chain and I was hanging from my arms on a pulley, being slowly drawn forward. I saw huge pieces of meat all around me, hung in very much the same fashion as I was. Not only were my shoulders hurting, but my wrists were stinging and, every so often, a drop of blood would drop from the chain. My wrists were being rubbed raw.

I didn't care, though. I wanted to get out of here, because I was starting to infer what the whirring noise was: I was surrounded by meat, on a moving line, and there was a pit about six or seven "meats" in front of me. I was about to be put through a meat grinder.

I struggled with all of the remaining strength I had, thrashing violently on the chain. I did not want to die. My thrashing did nothing. I was stuck on this....pulley of death. I was too tired, now, to try to get out using brute strength. Maybe I could use my powers. Before I could, I realized I didn't feel my pendent around my neck. I was powerless.

There were three more "meats" before it was my turn for the meat grinder. I struggled even more, and started screaming "Help! Someone, please!" at the top of my lungs. My black hair fell in front of my face and I could feel the wetness of either blood or sweat on the tips.

Two more meats. I was frantic, not even yelling coherently anymore. The meat in front of me dropped into the pit of blades and I watched as it was shredded effortlessly into mush. That would be my fate in a few seconds.

When the chain released, I screamed and felt the pain hit my legs first.

I bolted upright in my bed, panting. My whole body was covered in sweat and so was my bed. It was only a dream. I thought. Just some more meat for the meat grinder.

AGH!!! Freaky! tHAT WAs a good scare. In fact, you scared my fingers to mess up the caps lock. XD

The only thing I'm confused about...is the location. You say she's hanging by her wrists, but where would the conveyer belt head towards? (as in, which direction?)

Maybe I'm overthinking this....well, this is probably the scariest one I've read so far, because my heart stopped and I gasped. Man, that's some suspense right there.... ToT

Wow I thought the was the least scary cuz it didn't have a creepy laugh! I'm surprised my stories are actually scaring you! It makes me sort of proud actually.

What do you mean by "which direction"? I'm going to try and clear up your confusion. When did your heart stop during this story?!?

....gah, I'm too scared to remember! I thought this was the scariest....because you described the feeling so well....

Well, from what I read, it appears to me that Kelsi is hanging by her wrists, and they're chafing due to gravity. So she's hanging vertically.

So the meats on the conveyer belt sound like they're going sideways to the grinder....if she went in legs first, wouldn't that mean that they're going down, thus making it harder for the meat to stay on the belt?
I really am overthinking this. XD

Yes they are going sideways. Once the meat (and Kelsi) reaches the end of the conveyor belt, the chains release and drop whatever is on the line into the meat grinder. So they are going horizontally the whole way but once they reach the end, they go down.

Wow!!!! That was awesome and scary!! I loved the suspense and the way you described Kelsi's frantic struggles to escape the dreaded "Meat Grinder"! I had the chills when reading this.
